Agape Seminar in Yekaterinburg, Russia
From December 18th-21st, Agape Ministries held a 4-day training seminar in Yekaterinburg, Russia.
This makes seven seminars now that Agape has conducted in Russia.
This seminar took place at Living Word Church of Yekaterinburg, with the help of ‘Jesus Is the Answer,’ a local ministry.
The training focused on orphan ministry in orphanages, children’s shelters and adaptation centers. There were more than 20 people that attended, all of whom either are already involved in orphan ministry, or want to start serving orphan children, teens, and young people.
The seminar started with a message by Vasily Skorykh, pastor of ‘Jesus Is the Answer’ Church. Oleg Kokhan and Vladimir Bilyk, both on Agape Ministries teaching staff, taught the material covered during the course of the next four days. The topics discussed included the following: Problem Behaviors of High-Risk Children; Children in Dysfunctional Families; Interactive Methods of Teaching in Ministering to Children & Teens; Club Ministry, an Effective Tool in Ministering to Orphanage Graduates.
Those who have already been ministering to orphans for years found that a particularly helpful topic was “How to Fan the Flame of Ministry...Without Burning Out.” There were many questions discussed that were of vital interest to those attending the seminar: “How do I start ministering to orphans?” “Where can I find the resources I need?” “How do I react when problem situations arise in orphan ministry?”
The Agape teachers shared materials developed by the ministry, they shared their personal experience, and they explained and distributed Agape’s Bible Lessons curriculum, which includes programs for 4 different age groups. The four days seemed to fly by in the blink of an eye. There were so many new friends made, such good times of fellowship and exchanging of ministry experience - it was simply an unforgettable time for all!
